How to Calculate Surface Area

The formulas for calculating the surface area differ depending on the kind of geometric solid. Here are the surface area formulas:

Cone:  \(A = \pi^{2}+\pi\sqrt{(r^{2}+h^{2})}\), where r is the radius and h is the height of the cone.

Cube:  \(A = 6s^{2}\), where s is the length of the side.

Cylinder: \(A = \pi r^{2}+ \pi r\sqrt{r^{2}+ h^{2}}\), where r is the radius and h is the height of the cone.

Rectangular prism: \(A = 2(ab+bc+ac)\), where a, b and c are the lengths of sides of the prism.

Sphere: \(A = 4\pi r^{2}\), where r stands for the radius of the sphere
